How to Connect Your Hosting/Domain to Google Workspace

Setting up Google Workspace with your domain enhances your professional presence by allowing you to use personalized email addresses and access Google’s suite of productivity tools. By linking your domain to Google Workspace (previously G Suite), you can utilize Google’s email, calendar, and other services with your own domain name (e.g., you@yourdomain.com). This knowledge base covers the initial configurations required to connect your domain to Google Workspace.

Sign Up for Google Workspace

If you haven’t purchased Google Workspace yet, you can buy it directly from Google or a partner like Veeble at an affordable rate with support included.
To buy directly from Google, follow the steps below. Alternatively, you can visit the Veeble website to make your purchase.

  1. Visit Google Workspace.
  2. Pick a plan that fits your needs and click “Get Started.”
  3. Fill in your business name, the number of employees, and your contact info.
  4. If you have a domain, select “Yes, I have one I can use.” If not, you can buy one through Google.

Verify Your Domain

This is where your domain connects with Google Workspace. It is essential to ensure that the correct owner is connected. To verify ownership, Google uses a TXT record. A unique TXT record provided by Google Workspace must be configured in your domain’s DNS records via your DNS registrar control panel or your domain’s hosting control panel to verify the authenticity of ownership for Google.

To do Google WorkSpace verification;

  1. Hover over to the left side of Google WorkSpace after logging in.
  2. Click “Accounts” followed by “Domains” and “Manage Domains”

(The GIF shown above may not match your current G Suite interface, as it can change over time. However, you can usually find this option under Accounts >> Domains >> Manage Domains.)

  1. In the next screen, click “verify” next to the domain you need to verify the ownership.
  2. Click “Continue” on the next screen which shares some basic ideas about the verification process.
  3. Click “Copy” next to the TXT record provided by Google WorkSpace to copy the TXT records.
  1. Log in to your domain registrar or hosting control panel and navigate to the DNS settings or DNS management section. This process may vary depending on the specific control panel you are using, but the general concept remains the same.
  2. In the DNS records editor, add the TXT DNS record where the name will be the domain name you are using, the type will be TXT, and the value/record will be the one you copied in Step 5.
    i.e;
    Type: TXT
    Name/Host: @ (or leave blank, or enter your domain name without the “www”)
    Value/Record: your_copied_TXT_code
  3. After pasting it, save the DNS records by clicking the “Save” button.
  4. Then go back to the Google WorkSpace and click “Verify My Domain”

Set Up Email with Google Workspace

In your Domain Registrar/Hosting DNS settings, you will need to add MX (Mail Exchange) records provided by Google inorder to start functioning the email accounts.
The MX records of Google WorkSpace are below:

In your DNS settings, you must add the above MX records provided by Google. To do that,

  1. Login to your domain registrar/Hosting control panel and navigate to the DNS settings or DNS management section. This process may vary depending on the specific control panel you are using, but the general concept remains the same.
  2. In the DNS records editor, add the MX DNS record where the name will be the domain name you are using, the type will be MX, and the value/record will be the one you can copy from the above table.
    i.e;
    Type: MX
    Name/Host: @ (or leave blank, or enter your domain name without the “www”)
    Value/Record: your_copied_MX_record_from_table

By following the steps you have successfully configured the MX record, you will now be able to send and receive mails once DNS propagated successfully!

Now you can start creating email accounts and access your new email accounts for using mail.🎉
